It’s that time of the year. The Christmas tree is up, gifts are bought, we have decided what to cook for Christmas dinner and then I remember, oops not everybody can drink alcohol but sure deserve a special drink or two.
Yep, I’m amongst those that won’t be able to sip alcohol this year. If you or your family member, just like me, need a special non-alcoholic drink for the holidays, this recipe is for you. The great news is that you get to prepare it in your favourite @ballcanning jars. Here’s what you’ll need:
– hibiscus tea
– Ice
– Berries of your choice (I chose strawberries)
– Lime juice
– Honey for sweetness (optional).
– Carbonated water (optional)
– Edible flowers or mint leaves for decor
What I love about this drink is that there’s no required amount for each ingredient, kinda like you prepare it to your taste. After preparing it for a while, this is how I like it. I make the tea as I would normally do. One tea bag for a cup of hot water. You can go up to two tea bags per cup of water for a more intense taste and brighter colour. Once the tea is ready, let it cool. I then make the lime juice with 1/4 lime to 200mL of water. Again, you can play around and make the juice to your taste. I then add 1tsp of honey for sweetness. Slice the strawberries and let it sit.
Let’s put it all together. Grab your @ballcanning jar. Add the lime juice first. Then add the berries of your choice and mix it a bit. Pour the hibiscus tea on top and get mesmerised by the beautiful colour. Add the ice. Since the holidays are all about sparkles, add carbonated water. Garnish with edible flowers or mint leaves and enjoy. Happy Holidays everyone!
