We often talk about Spring Cleaning, but how about we give “Holiday Organization” as much credit. Wait! Not talking about “Holiday Cleaning” not even implying that we should go crazy deep cleaning our homes in a period that though merry is already stressful for some people, but to prep it in a way as to make the holidays go a lot smoother.
It is often said that “everything happens in the kitchen,” I couldn’t agree more and for this Holiday Organization I´m going to share with you how I organize a tiny pantry for the holidays using only @ballcanning jars to make cooking during this period of the year so much more enjoyable.
Let’s start from the beginning. Most frequently we know ahead of time who’s staying in for the holidays or who’s invited just for the holiday party, so that we can prepare the menu accordingly. The holiday menu should mirror the ingredients in your pantry and their respective quantities. Make sure to also include ingredients for dishes that are more likely enjoyed by picky eaters, talking from experience. This saves you headaches like running to the store at the last minute. Talking about avoiding headaches, go with see-through clear containers to organize your pantry, like my favourite Ball® Storage Latch Jars, Ball® Quart Jars and Ball® Wide Mouth 24oz Jars from, to avoid spending time guessing what’s in each container.
Variety is key. If you have family members hanging around for more than a couple of days, a meal plan with a variety of healthy meals is the way to go. For this I suggest filling up your Ball® jars with colourful ingredients like beans, rice, pasta and nuts and don’t worry if you don’t use up everything for the holiday cooking, the Ball® Storage Latch Jars do a great job of conserving your dried goods for longer, way after the holidays.
Now that I’ve shared a bit of my thought process behind holiday pantry organization, tell me, what’s cooking for the holidays?
